Society’s attitude toward McCandless Quote 1

" "I don't think he ever hung out with any of the employees after work or anything. When he talked, he was always going on about trees and nature and weird stuff like that. We all thought he was missing a few screws." "
Chapter 5. Page 40. Paragraph 5.

  1. Many people thought that McCandless's ideas were strange. No one really went out in the wild or talked about the beauty of nature on a regular basis. When McCandless would go on and on about Alaska and all the animals and plants it would probably get annoying and many people would think he was strange. Society looked at McCandless as a crazy person. He was thought to be obsessed with nature and crazy for wanting to go out into the middle of nowhere and try to survive off the land by himself. Society's opinion of him being weird, gave McCandless a negative image.
