Bullhead City wasn't a place that Thoreau would probably pick to settle down but it seemed like a good place for McCandless. Thoreau and McCandless had differences in the places they enjoyed. McCandless traveled all over the country and his odyssey was in Alaska. Thoreau took his trip into the woods and wasn't miles and miles away from civilization. "I discovered many a site for a house not likely to be soon improved, which some might have thought too far from the village, but to my eyes the village was too far from it (Walden pg.407)." Thoreau explains that it doesn't matter where your place of happiness is, as long as it makes you happy. McCandless likes Bullhead City and didn't care what anyone else thought. Thoreau picked the woods that everyone said was too far from the village but to him it was almost perfect. Everyone has there own opinion and you should always go with your opinion and what makes you happy.
